Selfishness is a curse. It will cause you to seek your own gain. But that selfish gain is a trap of destruction, and when that destruction happens, you will be surprised at the destruction and will turn to more selfishness in an attempt to protect yourself from more destruction. And such a cycle will continue.
Selfishness is the thing that causes poverty. It will either bring poverty to you, others, or both. For the rich man, his selfishness brings poverty to others. For the poor man, he will bring poverty to himself and will take from those who help him.
Selfishness will also bring emotional turmoil and slavery. The selfish person will become a slave to prevent his destruction. Both the rich and poor will always toil for more money out of fear. Greed is fear because it is the fear of not enough, the fear of loss, and also the fear of man. Attempting to gain the recognition of man, is the fear of the rejection of man. All of those fears will create greed in one form or another.
Selfishness will cause a person afflictions, both physically and spiritually. Spiritually, it will separate the person from God. Emotionally, it will cause excessive stress, weariness,
hatred, anger, the loss of peace, the loss of joy, depression, emotional instability, and even an emotional void that cannot be filled. Physically, it will cause the chemical production of your body to become distorted and imbalanced; thus, causing problems physically. So the person will turn to man to get pharmikeia (drugs / medicine / sorcery), or addictions, to deal with the physical and mental problems. But they will not get healing. Instead, they will only numb their emotions and gain temporary relief from the problems of the body.
Selfishness also shuts down the blessings of God in your life, and you get left fending for yourself. Prayers of selfish gain are redirected to satan, and he becomes your provider. At which point and time, you are at the mercy of satan’s provision for your selfish desires. Tithing to get something in return is selfishness, and Father God does not bless selfishness. But satan does bless selfishness. Satan is the only one who blesses selfishness.
Doing “good works” (like giving to the poor, tithing, helping people, etc) while expecting a return is selfishness. And this opens the door for satan’s blessings, assuming he decides to shower you with your selfish desires.
Doing “good works” (like giving to the poor, tithing, helping people, etc) while expecting NOTHING in return is selflessness. This is love, and God’s love is action with sacrifice.
And this will open the doors for Father God to bless you.
Father God expects you to be love. In order to be love, you must be selfless. God blesses selflessness. He does not bless selfishness.
Only Jesus and the Holy Spirit can remove the selfishness. Once it is removed, then joy can flow freely. The stress, weariness, hatred, anger, depression, emotional instability, the loss of peace, the loss of joy, and the emotional void you have due to selfishness will be removed and healed as you progress towards selflessness. Only by submitting to the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to change you into a selfless being, which God wants you to be, can you become selfless in nature.
Once you make that transition over to selfishness, can you obtain deliverance for the old selfish nature. And this will allow you to get rid of a lot of the worldly indoctrination. It will, also, allow you to get deliverance from fear. But keeping the selfishness will keep the doors open for such demons and hardships to be on you.
Selflessness will bring the blessings of God into your life. God wants you to be love unto others, as He is love unto others. You cannot do this when you are selfish. It requires selflessness. Being love unto others, as God is love unto others, will open up God’s blessings unto you.
